How to use Softaculous

What is Softaculous

Softaculous is an auto installer covering a wide range of scripts.  Scripts provided by Softaculous cover the majority of third party scripts any user would use on their site.  Categories include ad management, blogs, content management, CRM, customer service, customer support, eCommerce, ERP, and many more.   Currently there are There are over 400 third party scripts, over 1000 PHP Classes and they are constantly adding more.

 
How to access Softaculous

Once inside your cPanel account, please navigate to the"Software" section and click on the link labeled "Softaculous Apps Installer"

 
Using Softaculous

You can browse through scripts available to install softaculous, by clicking on any category in the left menu.   Listed under top scripts you will find a list containing the most popular scripts being used on the web today.

 
Installing a script

Once you have selected the script you would like to use, please click on the "Install" button, located above the script description.
Installing a script through Softaculous is designed to be a quick, easy, 1-click process.  You will need to fill out a small amount of information about the site and the script.  Then Softaculous will automatically create and configure the database, permissions, files, and installation.
 
 
Software setup

Choose Protocol  --  Choose where you would like your script installed.  Most common uses are either http:// or http://www.

Choose Domain  --  If you have multiple domains on your account, please make sure you are selecting the correct domain.

In Directory  --  This is the directory the script will be installed on.  If you want the script installed on the main directory (public_html) please leave this blank.

Database Name  --  If you would like to change the default database name, you can so here.

Table Prefix  --  For security purposes, TurnKey recommends you do not use the default table prefix.

 
Site Settings

Site settings are generally settings such as your site's name and description. Most programs allow you to easily change these values after installing them.

 

Admin Account

Most scripts all have an administrative area where you can configure or mange the settings and or site.  This section will allow you to create the username and password for the admin area. 

***Please Note!  TurnKey does not recommend using the username of admin, administrator, or any part of your domain name.  You will also want to make sure you are using a secure password. 

 

Choose Language

The default language on any Softaculous script is English.  If you do not wish to have your site in English, please choose the appropriate language from the drop down list.

 

Once you have entered in all the information, you can click on the "Install" button.  A new page will load, with a progress bar to show how much time on the install is left.  Once the script has been installed you will see a new page, stating the installation was a success.  Along with the link to the site where the script was installed and a link to the admin area.
